According to local authorities, this extreme downpour triggered widespread surface flooding across most of the town’s road network, leaving many routes completely impassable to motorists and pedestrians for several hours.
Emergency response teams were mobilized rapidly to the affected area, with crews from Kerry County Council, Kerry Fire Service and Kerry Civil Defence all arriving on scene by approximately 7:00 PM local time. Fire service crews deployed high-capacity pumps to clear standing water from critical road corridors, working through the evening to reopen blocked routes.
