The incident kicked off shortly after 9 a.m. along Coonans Road in Pascoe Vale South, when a stolen Volvo SUV veered off the road and crashed into a residential fence. The vehicle had been reported stolen from an address in North Melbourne a week prior, on July 16, and was fitted with fraudulent registration plates to avoid detection, according to Victoria Police.
After the crash, the 29-year-old occupant of the car, who was alleged to be carrying a loaded firearm, fled the scene on foot.
