A 34-year-old Burlington woman has been slapped with 65 criminal charges after a months-long Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigation into widespread allegations of fraud and theft targeting vulnerable patients and hardworking staff at multiple Ontario healthcare centers. The suspect has been identified as Nassim Eronn, a resident of the GTA-adjacent city of Burlington located roughly 34 miles south of Toronto.
Law enforcement launched the probe after receiving a flood of separate reports from individuals who claimed they had been targeted by theft and fraud while on healthcare facility properties. According to an official statement shared by OPP with BBC News, the suspicious criminal activity under scrutiny dates back to February 2024, with the most recent incident documented just last month. At the time of the alleged events, Eronn held a staff position at healthcare sites spread across the province.
The OPP’s investigation got its formal start in May 2025, after a formal theft complaint was filed connected to Eronn’s employment at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, a facility located 130 kilometers north of Toronto. “This investigation was prompted by several complaints of theft and fraud from patients and staff within the hospital,” police confirmed at the launch of the case.
As detectives dug deeper into the allegations, they expanded their scope to cover every healthcare facility where Eronn had worked previously, uncovering additional cases of suspected misconduct across multiple sites. To advance the case, law enforcement executed a series of search warrants, during which they seized a large cache of property connected to the alleged theft and fraud scheme. Images of the seized evidence have been released to the public via OPP.
To date, authorities have confirmed five healthcare facilities across Ontario are tied to the investigation, with clear timelines for the alleged incidents at each site. The timeline of suspected activity stretches back to the earliest allegations at West Park Health Care Centre in Toronto, where incidents are alleged to have occurred between February 2024 and April 2024. That was followed by activity at St Joseph’s Health Centre, also in Toronto, from July 2024 through January 2025. Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital saw alleged incidents between April 2025 and March 2026, while Mississauga’s Trillium Health Partners Mississauga Hospital was on the list from August 2025 to July 2026. The most recent allegations tie Eronn to Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville, where incidents are alleged to have occurred between August 2026 and September 2026.
Currently, authorities have not released details about what specific role Eronn held at any of the implicated healthcare facilities. The full list of charges laid against the suspect includes 34 counts of fraud valued under $5,000 CAD (equivalent to roughly £3,800), 13 counts of theft under $5,000 CAD, and seven separate counts of disobeying an existing court order. Additional charges include breach of trust connected to her position at the healthcare facilities and criminal impersonation.
Investigators are warning that the known number of victims is likely incomplete, and have issued a public call for anyone who may have interacted with Eronn at the implicated facilities to review their personal financial records for any unauthorized or suspicious transactions. Anyone who identifies questionable activity is urged to come forward to OPP to share information that could help advance the ongoing investigation.
