Shanghai L+SNOW indoor skiing resort earns five FIS certifications

Shanghai’s L+SNOW Indoor Skiing Theme Resort has attained an unprecedented achievement in China’s winter sports landscape, securing five distinct certifications from the International Ski Federation (FIS). This accomplishment establishes the facility as the nation’s foremost indoor skiing venue in terms of FIS recognitions.

The resort, featuring three professionally designed ski trails, reached this milestone in early 2026, transforming Shanghai into a contender for hosting world-class international skiing competitions. Wang Xiaobo, assistant general manager of the resort, confirmed the certifications have positioned Shanghai as a new hub for competitive winter sports in China.

Beyond its competitive credentials, L+SNOW serves as the official training base for local ski teams, having facilitated more than 7,000 training sessions throughout 2025. The facility hosted specialized summer and autumn camps for both the Chinese Paralympic team and national squad during their preparations for the Milan Winter Olympics.

Wang emphasized the significance of these certifications: “This achievement means Shanghai finally possesses a professional venue capable of hosting international ranking tournaments and championship events. We have scheduled twelve international ski competitions for the current year.”

The resort’s comprehensive approach includes supporting professional athlete development, organizing youth competitions, and conducting public skiing skill assessments. This multi-tiered strategy creates a sustainable ecosystem that nurtures skiing talent from beginner levels through competitive ranks, while simultaneously celebrating cultural events with seasonal performances and ice sculpture exhibitions.
