Man charged with murder of woman in Finglas

A 47-year-old Romanian national, Daniel Simion Toader, was formally presented before a special sitting of Dublin District Court on Tuesday evening, facing a single charge of murder in connection with the death of a woman in her 40s in the Finglas area of County Dublin, Republic of Ireland. The victim, identified locally as Loredana Morosanu, a Romanian native who had resided in Ireland for a number of years, was discovered deceased inside her residential unit at the Melville Terrace apartment complex in the early hours of Monday morning. Irish national police, known as gardaí, were dispatched to the property shortly after 04:30 local time in response to a reported incident at the address, where they found Morosanu’s body upon arrival. During Tuesday’s court proceedings, which were covered by national broadcaster RTÉ, the accused was observed appearing in casual attire consisting of a blue knit sweater, grey tracksuit trousers and black footwear. Court documentation confirmed Toader is also a resident of the same Melville Terrace apartment block where the fatal incident occurred. When formally notified of the murder charge at Finglas Garda Station earlier that same Tuesday evening, Toader made no verbal response to the accusation, a senior investigating detective confirmed to the presiding judge. Notably, the defendant had no private legal representation present during the hearing, a situation attributed to an ongoing industrial dispute among Irish criminal defence lawyers over outstanding legal aid remuneration rates. Toader communicated exclusively through a state-assigned Romanian language interpreter throughout the brief court appearance. Following the presentation of evidence outlining the circumstances of the charge, the judge ordered Toader to be remanded in custody, with the next scheduled court appearance set for 3 November.
