Israeli forces kill 14 in Gaza as UN commission says genocide continues

Over the past 48 hours, a surge in Israeli military operations across the Gaza Strip has left 14 Palestinians dead, according to official data released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The most recent fatality identified is six-year-old Tahani Mohammad Shalalfah, who was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers on Tuesday. Local on-ground media sources document that Israeli tank units launched intense bombardments targeting the Al-Alam and Al-Shakoush neighborhoods west of Rafah in southern Gaza, while coordinated artillery strikes hit multiple residential zones in the territory’s northern districts. On the preceding day, Monday, an Israeli airstrike targeted a makeshift displacement camp, claiming one civilian life. Separately, Gaza’s Ministry of Interior and National Security confirmed that two of its security personnel were killed, and two more sustained injuries while carrying out an official security patrol in the central Gaza city of Deir al-Balah. Official health records further show that the cumulative death toll in Gaza linked to Israeli military actions since October 2023 has climbed to 74,561, with 1,565 of these fatalities occurring after the October 2025 ceasefire agreement was formally enacted. The ceasefire was originally negotiated with the explicit dual objectives of halting what global human rights advocates have termed Israel’s genocidal campaign against Gaza’s Palestinian population, and opening unobstructed access for life-saving humanitarian aid convoys to reach vulnerable communities trapped in the territory. However, Israeli military forces have continuously breached the terms of the truce, carrying out near-daily armed assaults while imposing strict, crippling restrictions on the entry of critical food, medical supplies, and shelter materials. Adding independent, authoritative weight to these documented violations, the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory released its latest public report on Monday, formally concluding that Israel remains actively engaged in perpetrating genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza. The commission’s 70-page document lays out a litany of verified war crimes and crimes against humanity attributed to Israeli state authorities and military units, including systematic extermination, state-sponsored persecution, widespread torture, rape, and multiple other forms of targeted sexual violence occurring across all areas of the occupied Palestinian territories. The report explicitly states that Israeli military commands have continued executing genocidal actions even after the implementation of the 2025 ceasefire, with clear, documented intent to destroy the Palestinian national group, either in full or in substantial part. Investigators on the commission verified that Israeli forces persist in deploying heavy, unguided explosive ordnance in densely packed civilian residential areas, alongside armed drones, small quadcopter surveillance and attack units, and precision sniper fire, leading to the systematic, deliberate destruction of civilian lives, homes, and essential public infrastructure. The report further notes that the so-called Yellow Line, originally designated as a temporary demarcation line to separate opposing forces under the ceasefire terms, has gradually transformed into a steadily advancing de facto border that reflects Israel’s ongoing, incremental seizure of additional territorial control across the Gaza Strip. Beyond Gaza’s boundaries, the commission issued a stark public warning that Israel is actively exporting its full-scale “total destruction” military strategy first deployed in Gaza to the occupied West Bank. The report documents that Israeli military assaults, paired with escalating, coordinated violent attacks by extremist Israeli settlers, have formed a widespread, systematic campaign targeting unarmed Palestinian civilians in the West Bank that has been ongoing since October 7, 2023. Investigators confirmed that acts of torture, reproductive violence, rape, and other forms of sexual violence are now formally integrated components of this broader offensive against West Bank civilian communities, noting that “Sexual violence has been used with the intent to displace, subjugate and destabilize the Palestinian people.” The commission also found that Israeli military units have deliberately targeted and killed Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank, inflicting severe, permanent physical and psychological harm on surviving minors, a pattern of abuse identical to that documented in Gaza that qualifies as state-sponsored, age-based persecution. In its formal set of binding recommendations submitted to the UN Human Rights Council, the commission calls for the immediate, full termination of Israel’s decades-long occupation of all Palestinian territories, alongside the complete removal of all illegal Israeli settlers and unauthorized settlement outposts established across the West Bank and other occupied zones. The report further demands that Israeli authorities immediately cease and reverse all state-sanctioned confiscation and appropriation of private Palestinian property, end all policies that reserve Palestinian land for exclusive Israeli military use, and return every parcel of seized land back to its original Palestinian owners.
