The wedding comes exactly 12 months after Rodriguez, a 32-year-old influencer and public figure, publicly announced the couple’s engagement via her own Instagram channel in 2024.
Long before the ceremony, Portuguese entertainment outlets had floated multiple possible locations, from the mountain town of Sintra just outside Lisbon to Funchal, the coastal capital of Madeira, the island where Ronaldo was born. When rumors spread last weekend that the wedding would be held at Funchal’s cathedral, hundreds of excited fans flocked to the site hoping to catch a glimpse of the couple. The cathedral later clarified to AFP that no ceremony had been scheduled there, though it noted that hosting the high-profile event would have been a great honor. The couple ultimately chose Cascais, a luxury resort town 30 kilometers west of Lisbon, where they already own a private villa.
The pair first crossed paths in 2016, when Rodriguez was working at a Gucci retail store in Madrid, Spain. Rodriguez has repeatedly described their meeting as love at first sight.
