KYIV, Ukraine — In a major shakeup to Ukraine’s military leadership amid widespread public pressure, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the dismissal of Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi from his post as commander-in-chief of Ukraine’s armed forces on Tuesday. The leadership change comes after multiple days of large-scale public demonstrations across Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, where demonstrators gathered explicitly to call for Gen. Syrskyi’s removal from the top military role.
