The incident occurred on Tuesday as the Spirit flight, traveling from Florida to Massachusetts, flew parallel to Air Force One over New York, maintaining a distance of eight miles (12.8km). While the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the separation between the two aircraft was within safe limits, the proximity raised concerns among air traffic controllers.
