Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled an innovative shared transportation solution for students, introducing a luxury SUV pooling service priced at Dh1,000 per month during its promotional launch phase. This groundbreaking initiative, developed in collaboration with Yango Group and Urban Express Transport, represents a significant advancement in educational transportation infrastructure.
The pilot program, specifically targeting the Al Barsha district, will serve students aged 14 and above from multiple prestigious institutions including Bloom Academy, Brighton College, GEMS Founders School, GEMS Al Barsha National School, Dubai American Academy, and the American School of Dubai. The service strategically connects these educational facilities with surrounding residential communities.
According to Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, the initiative has generated exceptionally positive feedback from the community. The official rollout is scheduled within the forthcoming two weeks, marking the beginning of a comprehensive pilot phase before potential expansion across other Dubai regions.
The transportation service guarantees a maximum commute duration of 60 minutes from home to school, with carefully coordinated pick-up and drop-off times aligned with individual school schedules. Parents can register through dedicated digital platforms provided by Yango Group and Urban Express Transport.
Safety remains paramount in the implementation, with all vehicles equipped with advanced surveillance cameras, real-time tracking systems, and comprehensive safety measures matching current school transportation standards. This project forms part of Dubai’s broader strategy to reduce traffic congestion while providing secure, cost-effective student transportation alternatives.
As the pilot program progresses, authorities will continuously assess operational impact through feedback mechanisms involving participating families and educational institutions, shaping the future development of smart transportation solutions throughout the emirate.
